The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is the first to drop previous ideals, and follows the crowd to new beliefs. It doesn't take a monster to adhere to a totalitarian state. It takes a hero to stand up against a totalitarian wave.

Hannah Arendt was on our NYC high school curriculum, many years ago, in order to understand the recent past. I never thought we'd be living these days here in the United States.

To be fair, Arendt was grossly sympathetic to Nazis. But still a good point.

Just experienced this with my cousin who insisted areas of the US are under Sharia Law... he reduced it to de facto Sharia Law but never budged from there

As relevant now as ever: Chaplin's "The Great Dictator," maybe the best of all anti-Fascist films. 2 years before America entered WWII, Chaplin was sounding the alarm. It's funny, timely, inspiring. This is the ending.

Trump attacks all modern factfinding methods & practitioners: scientists, judges, lawyers, journalists, policy analysts. If all is "opinion," who said something matters more than its evidentiary & logical basis. Trust the common sense of the volk, not intellectuals. 100% Hitler.
