Many developers on Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most hotly anticipated games of 2020, have been working overtime hours for months if not years now. But this call for six-day work weeks, "mandatory" crunch, directly reneges on what CDPR's bosses told me last year.

I'm not surprised. This has been the cycle for years now. Big AAA game is hyped. Reports of horrific crunch from AAA studios. Big AAA studio promises no more crunch. Next game is announced. Big AAA is hyped. Reports of horrific crunch. Naughty Dog, CDPR, Bioware, etc.

I mean...they crunched on Witcher 3. CDPR's games have the level of polish they do not because of any innate love for the craft. It's because Poland has a low cost of living so they can develop for longer on the same budget and still do INTENSE crunch on top of that.
