I am one of those guys who call themselves rational unironically.
I try to be reasonable, which usually gets me accused of being a filthy centrist.

This is what's wrong with the left. Even someone as smart and reasonable as Paul can't help but hate his own side more than the other team. It's the same instinctive bias that leads lefties to prefer Palestine over Israel. Madness. pic.twitter.com/SXEnxqG0ZV

How on earth does voting for his preferred candidate make him a monster?? Paul, if you spent even half the empathy you have for Trump voters on Bernie supporters, you'd realize that from their perspective they are acting to defend American democracy:

"I hate the person who won't save me from a serial killer more than I hate the serial killer" is an understandable sentiment, but also utterly, utterly wrong.
This person has a democratic right to vote for whoever they want and exercising that right doesn't make him a monster.

I have to admit, the mentality of Trump supporters still baffles me. I once asked my readers in 2016, very politely, to please not vote for Trump. There are people who are still angry at me *to this day* because of that, telling me to "GET CUCKED" even four years later. :s

Why would you expect anyone to take “this person was accused of wrongdoing” as proof of anything in this day and age? And you only treat accusations of antisemitism like this, and never racism. That’s a bit partisan, don’t you think?

Could a machine ever be as big as a human? Ten machine scientists argue that the idea of "super-sized machines" is implausible science fiction: what does it even mean to be "human-sized", anyway? arxiv.org/pdf/1703.10987…

Ehm, honestly? It's not the sort of thing you're supposed to say out loud, but I really don't see babies as more morally valuable than pigs (very smart animals, way undervalued). Assuming nobody wants or cares for the baby, then... yeah, I'd bite that bullet.

Taboos always create their own catch-22 because you can't decide whether or not you should taboo something without thinking about it, and we can't think about it if it's taboo. I really think the assumption should be that taboos are pretty much *always* harmful.

I get what you mean, but "let's not think about this" has never worked out well for us. For example, most people are currently not thinking about what the moral worth of animals is, for much the same reason. Think of the horror if it turns out it's much higher than we thought!

The dirty little secret is that many in the new upper class, on left and right alike, in their heart of hearts, do think that their moral worth is linked to their IQ. twitter.com/CEGrotius/stat…

Well, more specifically, they attach their sense of self worth to their expensive academic education. They reject the notion of objective IQ testing because then it could turn out that they aren't actually as smart as they like to pretend.

I might be missing something, but I don’t think that criticising hunter Biden is at all the same thing as Supporting Trump - even if it does help him win reelection. Isn’t it possible that this guy is simply trying to push back against a pro-establishment narrative?

Few things amaze me more than some people’s ability to go “bill maher is smart no wait he disagreed with me he’s terrible no wait now he’s good again” in perfect tandem with whatever opinion he happens to shoot from the hip at the time. twitter.com/FvrDrms/status…

One frustrating thing about arguments in the 21st century is that you can see people saying "nobody thinks X" and "X is true" in the *same thread*.
Remember when we all thought that the internet would force people to engage with opposing points of view? 😐 twitter.com/hollymathnerd/…

And to top it all off and make the analogy even more perfect, well-meaning idiots then write long 'splainer' articles about how there totally is no difference between white and brown eggs... only to end with an off-hand note that okay well technically there kinda is. pic.twitter.com/H778bnCrSZ

I was joking, but in fact eggs are an amazing analogy for race because brown eggs are more likely to be free range which makes them better on average, but because people are dumb they only remember that brown ones taste better and end up paying more for identical brown eggs. 🤷♂️

I actually think that this is a pretty good test of whether someone is serious about either topic. If they treat sex and race as equivalent, they're just being partisan - regardless of which side they happen to be arguing for.

Well sure. Evolution had a huge motive to maintain sexual dimorphism - no equivalent exists for race. In fact, the ability to interbreed would only be considered a good thing. Heck, we even managed it with the Neanderthals!
