Got a call tonight that one of Immigrant Defenders Law Center’s clients, a dad who had been separated from his 6 y/o daughter last June, was being released from Adelanto. His release was only possible because Immigrant Families Together paid his $8000 bond.

This is what it’s like for asylum seekers waiting to legally request US protection at the El Paso port of entry. Miguel Leyva was number 7148, would his 39th day waiting in Mexico mean he was finally up?

I’m not in middle America. I’m in Los Angeles the heart of “the resistance.” No offense to you or our viewers but you’re a tiny, tiny portion of the overall population. Not interested in pretending everyone else doesn’t exist so I can sit in an echo chamber. It’s not reality.

Could not disagree more. If you want to know how most folks think our die hard viewers or the Twitterati isn’t the way to go. There are way more “randos” out there, and they’re they ones who decide elections by either finding something to vote for, or (as likely) by staying home.

Instead of quickly standing up temporary processing facilities as in 2016, CBP this time kept relying on inadequate border holding cells or having people sleep on rocks under bridges. Why? That’s a question and other border leaders have asked without response. 6/

Because the historical context is missing a very important question goes unasked. CBP In 2016 stood up temporary processing facilities within days of learning apprehensions had passed 60K per month; in 2018-19 they waited 6 months after crossing 60K. Why? 5/

In the general counsel’s office at D.H.S., a department official told me, “there’s a view now that we should be pushing the legal limits,” bc “we’re going to win at the Supreme Court.” My latest on the chaos at DHS & unbridled ambitions at WH:

ImmDef was back in court today fighting for our client Jose who has been detained by ICE for more than a year. Help us shine a light on this injustice by sharing this video about what happened the last time he went to court.

Just heard they still use these in Truro, MA! "An election worker, typically Jane, stands there as you place your completed ballot onto the machine, and SHE turns the handle... My husband and I always relate to one another what the count was at the time we individually voted."
