Grasses, many native ground covers, sedges, the softer parts of lemon grass and tussocks, roots if they are easily dug up. In the veg garden they go for parsnip, parsley root, corn, sweet potato, other food if stressed.

Will pass that on to the wombats, but I suspect they feel that carrots balance with whatever they feel is appropriate at the time

Delighted you liked Tom Appleby Convict Boy. He reappears as prosperous farmer-and father of a delightful daughter- in Pirate Boy of Sydney Cove.

The wombats have noticed your due subservience. A small shred of carrot may arrive in the mail. Or not.

How do I resist cuddling wombats? let me count the ways: teeth, dust, teeth, they'd rather be scratched, dust, teeth, and, sadly, wombats need to learn to stay away from humans and their roads and houses to survive. But I do get to cuddle injured ones.
