Inspiring indeed! “the writing style of scientific papers inadvertently contributes to the problem of jargon abuse because it is designed to highlight and convey novelty... Summarizing a paper in your own words restructures the content to focus on learning rather than novelty.”

This semester I'm teaching a new PhD course "Economics, AI, and Optimization." I'll be covering how AI/Opt methods enable large-scale economic solution concepts. I'm planning to share lectures notes that I hope will be of broader interest.

wow I broke 1k here's the best advice I've ever been given (by an economist, no less): there are no good counterfactuals for your own life. you will never know how anything would have gone otherwise it's YOLO + causal inference <3

Only 2.5 percent of Google’s workforce is black, while Facebook and Microsoft are each at 4 percent. Powerful article about Atlanta, black AI talent, and how we can rethink retention/recruitment. Great work

Unfortunately yes. We’ve tried to balance wow factor of platform and actual reach. I’ve attached a photo of the paper to the tweet as one workaround, but if you email me, I can also send you the private author share link that has the full non-paywall version

6 is a perfect number, meaning the divisors sum to the number. Also the number of days until the ACM CHIL (conference on health, inference, learning) paper deadline! ✨

I'm sure everyone saw this live on C-SPAN 2 just now, so there is hardly a need to point it out. But in case a few of you were watching C-SPAN 1 instead, check on and me talking about the Ethical Algorithm on BookTV:

Earlier this month, I went to at NeurIPS. The talks were recorded, which is amazing. But I know you aren't going to watch 6 hours of video. Maybe you'll read 40 minutes of summary, though!
