Again: I'm glad that's the only thing Stalin is known for. I'm glad he's a hero. I'm glad he never did anything else worth mentioning. What a great conversation, mate. Just tip top!

Yeah right, that's the only thing he ever did. Phew! Good for him, I guess.

But please stop asking your 26 year old daughter who is struggling to finish her English MA what she'll do with that degree – you're giving me anxiety, mom.

The use of exclusively academic language around social justice often makes me wonder if the folks using it fully understand what they’re talking about, or if they are using the accepted vernacular of a (their) sub-culture in order to signal their belonging within the group.

I agree that restorative correcting is necessary and that cancel culture definitely is increasingly toxic, but I'm also wondering how we should carry this emotionally. To me, cancelling often happens when someone can't take the situation anymore.

Obviously we need to be careful when people want to use this to avoid being called out, but truly: Call Out Culture has become extremely harsh. I also think it's increasingly counterproductive.

career comedians spend countless hours studying and writing material just to be less entertaining/out funny’d by clinically depressed, working class twenty year olds on twitter, it’s amazing

Every time a comedian like Louis C.K. makes jokes about Asian men, I have to stop having amazing sex with my penis in order to try and count the number of times I’ve heard that tired stand-up before, but I can’t because I suck at math.
