Indeed, it’s hard to put an exact number on it as it’s an analog-to-digital transfer, but a 35mm print would probably be equivalent to something like 2K resolution by our contemporary HD standards. So there is a kind of latent future-proofing there even in the 1920s, 30s etc

No, i guess more film studies folx are doing the Contemporary Continental Philosophers on Film (Agamben, Badiou, Ranciere) thing, but i'm thinking more in terms of the discourse around Denis films, or like late Malick. Film twitter jokes about "bodies in space" are not unrelated
