UPDATING: Rivermen center Zach Nieminen has no damage to major structures after suffering significant laceration in back of R knee during last night’s game at Roanoke. He needed stitches at hospital to repair wound and will likely miss tonight’s rematch, but be OK going forward

UPDATE: Rivermen center Zach Nieminen suffered significant cut on back of his leg, near his knee, from an opponent's skate during a collision along boards in 2nd period. Peoria coach Trudel says Nieminen being tended to at a hospital. Not known yet how many games he'll miss.

Wow, check this out: It appears ice failure in Macon has forced the game against Fayetteville to be shortened to 2 periods. Since it was 0-0, the game went right to a shootout. Macon wins the shootout, 1-0. Fayetteville plays 40 minutes, gets a point, joins Rivermen in first

FINAL: Roanoke 5, Rivermen 1. Peoria will have a chance to clinch a playoff spot again in a rematch Saturday. Rivermen still in first place, pending outcome of Fayetteville game at Macon (scoreless in 3rd period).

Rivermen center Zach Nieminen hobbled off the ice at around 11 minutes of that second period, looked like leg injury of some type.
