If Maddow just shows Trump paying as little tax as possible, and nothing more, someone will have committed a felony for 5 minutes of fame.

So: 1. Trump made $150 million 2. Trump paid $36 million in taxes And this is bad for him how?

Buried lede = Trump wants to eliminate alternative minimum tax which would have him paying ~3.5% in taxes rather than 24% as per 2005 return

Screenshot of Trump's taxes Maddow put up has "client copy" stamped on it. Doesn't mean he leaked, but means someone in his world def did.

Just one provision of Trump's tax plan, repealing AMT, would have given Trump $31 million in 2005 alone.

Key point. There was speculation after NYT report that Trump didn't pay taxes for 18 years because of his 1995 loss. He did in '05 at least.

Bottom line is that if Trump released his returns Americans would know if his tax policy would benefit himself, businesses or benefactors?

Maddow was great on explaining all the reasons it's vital to know what's in Trump's returns. But we're not an inch closer to knowing it.
