Most interesting statement from on earnings call “Our concentration in San Francisco is not serving us any longer and we will strive to be a far more distributed workforce which we’ll use to improve our execution" The remote work era is now

Zooming out: What's the goal of higher ed? Is it an investment—job training? Is that a consumption decision—a 4 year party? It's more of an insurance policy, where it's not worth as much as ppl are paying for it, but ppl are scared of falling through the cracks in our society.

For those who missed it, I played with last night, expecting to snark all over it. Instead the experience was damned close to perfect, and now my opinion of has shifted as a result.

reminds me of the age-old debate around 'should entrepreneurs take VC money?' depends on whether you're looking for a big 'exit', with attendant higher risk of going bust, versus sustaining a lifelong business and lifestyle.

Interesting implication of this story, if true (which I have no reason to believe it's not): the idea of "Counterfeit Food". Thread: 1/

American Psycho is so comically outdated. Like, in the first scene, in which the menu is being read: - Lemongrass broth - Arugula Cesar salad Like, that's normie shit right there. What used to be exclusively upper class taste is now eaten by every upper middle class yuppie.

hello i am a person you don't follow on twitter who thinks you are wrong but perhaps if you would consider devoting an large amount of time to explaining yourself over a long series of tweets there is a remote possibility i may be convinced. i promise this is worth your time.

1/ Unintended Tesla app purchases, explored. About a week and a half before the end of Q4 Tesla rolled out a new feature on their phone app: an upgrades tab. Shortly after they rolled it out users began to complain about unintended purchases.

This reminds me of my favorite moment at a tech conference. When two vc panelists spent ten minutes talking about their mutual love for containers. And then realized one was talking about Flexport and the other Docker

Here's what happened: after debate in 2018, we went to dinner. Peter had never used bitcoin before (!) I helped him set up wallet on his phone (Edge or BRD?), told him to secure it if he ever held significant value on it, gave him $50. He forgot pw, and never recorded phrase. 😑

Data is never clean if you are working with a growing business. As understanding expands, the system and the data generation process changes accordingly. I have moved from calling my day-to-day "data cleaning" to "understand the data generation process."

If WeWork really did mark the turn in the VC leverage cycle (of which I think the evidence is accruing) then I think it is impossible that it doesn't ramify through to the tools providers benefitting from those dollars sloshing through the ecosystem.

a lot of current "tech" is just using AWS and some JavaScript to renegotiate existing social relations (The Taxi, The Maid, The Servant) . Rather than automation, I see knowledge workers trading money for someone else's time - not exactly a new and exciting prospect.
