google search results have been taken over by ads, which are increasingly indistinguishable from actual results thanks to addition of favicons all of these additions have been a wreck for readability and it’s hard not to believe that’s the point

FYI, this is not a photo taken by NASA. It is a mock-up of data that shows 'hotspots' - mostly, fires, but sometimes other things like buildings, oil wells etc - turned into a 3D viz, with each spot given a 'glow' effect. It wasn't made with bad intentions, but *don't* share it

London: Uber trips were taken with drivers who had faked their identity. Uber: Ok, let's use facial recognition for drivers. If we let them, tech platforms will always go the route, in order to preserve the holy trinity of efficiency, scale and hypergrowth.

What fun! Man goes on Question Times and calls Labour liars over the £80k-5% figure. BBC clips up the juicy moment, uploads to Twitter, there’s no fact-checking in the clip, it goes viral. Morning after, BBC Reality Check says he’s wrong…. few dozen retweets.
