Dr Mae Jemison is one of the reasons I am a scientist today. Though her mission to space took place about a year before I was born, my mum made sure I knew of her. Seeing a woman who looked like me in STEM was, and still is, inspirational.

I’ve been frantically writing over the last 2 months (thesis & manuscripts), leaving me exhausted and in desperate need of a break. Despite the initial guilt I felt planning this holiday, I finally realised that time off, especially as a trainee, is important and so necessary!

I’m happy to finally be going on a two-week holiday after writing my PhD thesis! I’m notoriously bad at taking breaks, so this feels really great! ☺️

Thanks, Clair! 1. When I was 8, I wanted to be the 1st woman in hijab to play pro golf 2. I’ve moved house exactly 20 times since birth 3. At 20, I was at least semi-proficient in 6 languages, English, Arabic, Swahili, Hebrew, Spanish & French. Not anymore! 😩
