I think the reply here is: serious but not that serious. I think your instinct is right! But also it’s kinda scary for the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. Yeah?

I also didn’t say I thought six million people were going to die; I was describing the difference in magnitude between .1% and 2%. Nobody thinks everyone in America is going to get the flu or Coronavirus.

Also, your numbers for deaths are a result, but that result solved based on different initial infection rates. 16,000 is more than 2,200 — of course! But what percentage of infected does that mortality rate represent.

Where did you get 1% for flu? Everywhere I can find statistics, it’s .5 to .1%

(Source on Coronavirus mortality: ) Note that this article also states that Flu is less than 1% mortality rate, but confuses the statistic by first claiming that 10% of *those hospitalized* of the flu end up passing.

If everyone in the US got the flu, the deaths would number in the hundred-thousands. If everyone in the US got Coronavirus, six million people would die.

Where are you getting this? I thought the Coronavirus had a 2% mortality rate (according to Forbes), compared to Flu’s 0.1-0.5% mortality rate. That’s a very significant difference in mortality.
