Dispatches from the Prairies Tonight, I went on a little stroll in . A group of young white men rolled down their car windows. One of them made monkey noises at me, while they drove away. Being Black on the Prairies can be violent. It is always unsettling.

Dispatches from the Prairies Tonight, I saw five Black kids on their bicycles in Saskatoon. I couldn’t help but smile. In the middle of some of the aching in the world, happy kids just make me happy.
