I recently saw a quote that โ€˜They that wash on Monday have all the week to dry...โ€™ and that was certainly what my Grandmother did alongside many of her generation. It was obviously the same in this photograph with everyone washing on the same day.

Vintage image of Briggate in . The area was filled with menโ€™s such as A. Booths at 143 on the right and Burtonโ€™s and the Fifty Shilling Tailors on the left. The latter was founded in 1905 in Leeds by Henry Price and later became John Collier.
