Please RT If you want to know what modern-day yokai looks like, I recommend buying this book. Do you think that amabie is the only yokai that lives in the present age? They are still in Japan.

Sunekosuri translates to “shin rubber” and that is precisely what this dog-like yokai does. On rainy nights, a Sunekosuri might appear and rub up against people’s legs. This can be a tripping hazard, but these little guys certainly don’t mean any harm.

There is a legend that a Yokai called The Amabie appeared off the coast of Kumamoto, Japan in the 1800s & said to the locals “if an epidemic occurs, draw a picture of me & show it to everyone”. Here’s my take. Show it to everyone.

Amabie's recent revival has come as something of a surprise to some yokai experts, including Masanobu Kagawa of the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of History.
