selamat hari badak sumbu sedunia semua! i want u to meet iman. she is the last sumatran rhino in malaysia. iman was taken back in 2014 from danum valley. sadly, sumatran rhinos in malaysia are already extinct in the wild. there are less than 100 of them now. 🦏✨

In 1989, Kenya’s Meru National Park lost all of its rhinos due to poaching. But just over a decade later, they were reintroduced and today their numbers are increasing. Meru’s rhino sanctuary, managed by Kenya Wildlife Service, now holds over one hundred!

Today is and I'm thinking back to this heart-wrenching encounter I had three months ago, meeting the very last Malaysian Sumatran Rhino on earth. That means we're three months closer to this 20 million year old species becoming extinct.
