I heard the loud and distinct call of the Carolina Wren and followed it to his tree. These small birds can be difficult to find unless they are moving. Soon enough I spotted him and got this shot as he turned around mid-call to see what I was doing.

Please don't cut back ivy too hard in your garden! It can provide birds with winter berries, then spring nesting habitat in spring. Come autumn, its flowers are a late food supply for pollinators like bees, butterflies, hoverflies 🐝

My day went from great to awesome after seeing four goldfinchs back after a long absence then a redpoll popped in! So thats those, plus; Blue Tits, Great Tits, Coal Tit, Greenfinchs, Chaffinchs, Dunnocks, Nuthatch, Robin. Garden bird count soon!
