Today I had the privilege of taking Rowan to the site where his father, Lieutenant Albert Borella, 26Bn, performed the action for which he was awarded the outside in 1918. Out on the site 100 years to the very minute of the 26Bn's attack.

1/2 We have been aware of 7 railwaymen who won the , and have put up plaques for all of them. To our great surprise there is an eighth, L/Cpl Allan Lewis, GWR motor vehicle driver from Neath. The race is on to get a plaque up by 21/9, the centenary of his death.

Every man awarded the Victoria Cross had to make a conscious decision in which the most likely outcome was death. A VC cannot be awarded for a spontaneous act, it MUST be considered. Do not forget them, a £1 or anything you can give will help. Please retweet
