((I love this scene in Bloodlust. D's voice is hot, 'cause it's hella deep. 😳))

Currently watching Vampire Hunter D and Bloodline. It tells the story of D a half vampire half human Dhampir who hunts monsters and vampires! It's basically a horror anime!πŸ€”πŸ§›β€β™‚οΈπŸ¦‡πŸŽƒ

The opening to Bloodlust is some of the greatest cinematography ever put to film. In 2 fucking minutes, it masterfully gives you a sense of the world you're in and it shows the otherworldly power of the vampire without even showing him or betraying the love story.

The mirror cracks and the camera cuts back to Charlotte with her eyes quivering.

The camera continues navigating the city. Not a soul is seen on the street and the camera hardly gives us a view of the city from a civilian perspective. Instead, we see rooftops, alleyways, and grates. Places vermin and rodents occupy.

After the camera pulls in to the opening in the grate, we see outside from within it, as if we are the dog snarling at something in the night sky.

We then see from another unnatural perspective, as though we're steering the carriage, but we're looking up instead of straight ahead as any responsible driver should.

We then see the fair maiden Charlotte alone in bed before we see the roses by her window wither as some inhuman force opens the lock on the window from the outside.

It starts with a shot of the full moon before a camera dolly (animated on 1's so it's extremely smooth) pulls back to reveal an ominous dark castle followed by countless crosses atop the roofs of the buildings in town.

Finally, we see a full shot of the horse-drawn carriage but our view is obscured as we are once again looking through the grate. Then, as we see the carriage pass by a fountain, the water freezes in the presence of this great evil.

Then we see him, the beast! But we really don't see him. We just see his silhouette. We still don't know what this hideous demon actually looks like.

Then *swoosh* the camera comes closer, closer, and closer to Charlotte until she is covered in shadow, implying that this mass of dark evil is upon her.
