Not sure a garden centre in Cheshire would ever be my first choice on a hot bank holiday but the number of Small Tortoiseshells there was fair compensation

Good to see a Painted Lady in my part of the Kentish Weald, only second I've seen. All butterfly numbers seem very sporadic and regional this year. Worst year for my patch for years.

So many butterflies here! Commas, Red Admirals (which I've not been able to photograph as too fast), Large and Small Whites, Painted Ladies and Speckled Woods ☺☺

Just been out for a walk despite quite a lot of the usual wildflowers and warm sunshine the lack of Butterflies saddened me, just one large Skipper in 2 hours
