Thursday is Temple Newsam sewing group day, where our expert embroiderers sit on the Oak Corridor and stitch. If you see them, stop for a chat. This Green Man is being created using ‘punch needle’, which is worked from the back. It gives a gorgeous bobbly texture.

You may like to see what my 1st looked like in 2004 & today’s work on the easel. In the 1st the scraps were glued together with Pritt Stick but now I only handstitch them. Does anyone else compare their change of style?

Good to see an illustration of the unwrapping process in 's new exhibition. NB, a "bundle" is actually a mummified body hence why the brightly patterned textiles stripped from these usually carry unsightly stains
