The importance of Global Vault, which has 1.5 million seed samples & represents 10,000 years of history strikes you in the times like such. It stands as a quiet temple of security, protecting millions of back-ups of the world’s seed samples.

The almost unreal paintings of the Norwegian artist, Kåre Tveter (1922-2012). Note the light! He painted them in his studio, without using photos or having done sketches on his visit there. Just his memories of that wonderful place

This was a fairly decent pass. MN-2 at max elevation 3°. I've looked closely and believe, but might be wrong, that is in the middle of image, and very definitely ice-bound. The satellite pass suggests it has to be Svalbard, plus it has a little daytime there now.

His art is special. He also painted light beautifully. Apparently, he was hit by the light when he first went there in 1982. He never worked from photos/sketches, but gathered his impressions & transferred them to canvas in studio
