Chiran Jozo makes a bunch of liquid treats, and “Chiran Hotaru” is no exception. It’s a black sweet potato shochu that works nicely on the rocks and mixed with water. I tried it a few ways and preferred oyuwari. What’s your of the day?

My of the day is Yamamoto Shuzo’s “Kichinosuke.” This 25% ABV sweet potato shochu is made with black and silk sweet spuds, a somewhat rare tuber that is grown in the distillery’s own fields. Beautifully fragrant, I actually prefer it on the rocks! What’s your ?
