BHU students oppose faculty member because he is not . We are increasingly facing these sort of bigoted objections in the Western academy as well. It strikes at the very heart of academic knowledge and what qualifies one to teach.

If were the language of the masses as it's claimed to be, this shameful incident would have never happened. If the Govt really wishes to rejuvenate Sanskrit in India, it should "secularise" the classical language. Halo of sacredness around Sanskrit should be demolished.

What is happening in India, I am ashamed of this Govt, which preach hate among religion... Why can't a Muslim read or Teach Sanskrit... Why can't a Hindu write or learn Urdu!!! Shame on the Students of BHU who want their scholar to be out just because of religion!!!

Saṛī साड़ी is an Indian word which has its roots in Sanskrit shāṭī शाटी = garment. Interestingly word ''Shawl'' has its origin in Persian شال šâl (shawl / scarf) which has borrowed it from शाट śāṭa “clothing”[शाटी (śāṭī) is the feminine of this शाट śāṭa]
