This boat will soon be ready for the canal, it’s home canal will be the , now should we drop it in at Spike Island for a quick run around? We’ve already got the next boat waiting to be be stripped out for repairs.

I’m still ‘navigating’ through NW () history...as a region we were pioneers. The (1757) goes head to head with the (1761) for “claims of being first”. An argument that is based on terminology: ‘navigation’ & ‘canal’. 👷🏻‍♂️👍🏼

Another new milestone on the , this one on the path behind Blackbrook Rugby Club (a little off the alignment of the old cut, but at least in full public view beside the modern path.)

Henry Berry built Salthouse Dock, George's Dock and King's Dock in Liverpool as well as the Queen's Dock in Hull. The engineer also designed the Sankey Brook Navigation, later known as the Sankey Canal, which accommodated Mersey flats.

Mersey flats, navigating the Sankey Canal, transported coal from the Haydock Collieries to the township of Parr in St Helens. Other cargos that Mersey flats carried along the canal included iron ore, salt and sugar.

When is the link along the Sankey Canal to Spike Island opening again? Also why is the path nearly covered heading towards the Ferry Tavern? Needs cutting back. 🤷🏼‍♂️

11 members of N-W worked with and at Bewsey Lock on Sunday, removing saplings along the canal wall and on the Lock island. What a difference we made!
