This Morning a boat capsized off the coast of . ~10 made it swimming to shore & at least 1 person drowned. We mourn the dead and severely condemn the for the isolationist policy which is responsible for this. Europe must establish safe flight routes!

Most of those are fleeing from violence and war, while being re-traumatized in camp (e.g. 80% of mental health patients treated in July & Aug 2017 on reported experiencing violence; 1/4 of ppl torture & 19% of ppl sexual violence.) /3

With great relief, we learned that the 25 people were brought to the island's quarantine camp. We hope they will quickly recover their strength after the exhausting journey. Greek authorities must protect them and ensure that they can apply for asylum
