Our redcurrants have done us proud this year! I freeze them and use them to set any jam I am making. I may just have kept some out to ferment for breadmaking

Finally...after 5 years failing to find more than 7 redcurrants - the crafty forest birds dining out on them usually - I got myself a cropping... Birds 5: me 1! It's a start.

Today our blackbirds decided the recurrants were ripe so I've been and harvested loads to make into jelly, there is something romantic about food harvested on the longest day and enjoyed when summer is gone
