This postbox outside our gates still bares the seal of Edward VII. After independence, it was repainted and stamped with a harp and "SE" (Saorstát Eireann) by the Irish Free State. Still in use over 100 years later!

On this day in 1690, during the Siege of Cork, rebels from Elizabeth Fort fired a 24 pound cannonball at the enemy position in St Finbarr's. It can still be seen there today, hanging from the ceiling!
