Jacqui Rhodes made the most of a fine crop of tasty pears. We’ve enjoyed pear frangipane and pear & cinnamon scones, and we’re looking forward to preserved pears in light syrup with a hint of spice.

One of my all-time favorite fruits to make jams and preserves from are golden or yellow plums. The brightness of both the color and taste of these fruits make especially lovely preserves.

Two big pans full of salted Cauliflower, Courgette & French beans, ready to be weighted down & sit for 24 hours. Will still have a bit of crunch to the veg, as nothing worse than a soggy piccalilli (in my opinion anyway)

A good harvest on the trees, now what? I am not sure about making anymore , as lots of types already made this year. Any ideas gratefully received. These are hard cooking pears rather than sweet. I eat them raw too 😋😃

Jams are so rewarding to make yourself at home, the difference between store bought and homemade is massive and this raspberry jam is just delightful.
