As the name suggests, the Eastern Pondhawk prefers ponds and still waters as a habitat. The male is a powdered blue and the female is bright green with a bit of black.

Removing some excess plants from the this afternoon, and found this larva of Tipula maxima, the giant cranefly. Not the most handsome creatures in this aquatic stage, but turn out to be fine looking adults.
