Our conservators just unrolled the Lotus Sutra scroll S.3939 for treatment and had the nice surprise of discovering a fingerprint on its original rod. Whose might that be? There is also a moth case snuggly sitting in the fold. #LotusSutra#SteinCollections

The fragment, after the appropriate tests & determining the state of preservation of the paper, was deacidified and protected. The paper was not pressed no to obliterate the object's history. It is separated but stored together with the suitcase. 3/3

This map from our MS collection is quite thick paper but had been repaired with tape. Here, we carefully remove the tape and use a vinyl eraser to make the sticky residue ball up so it can be brushed off. This is 8 mins of the process in 60 secs! @sophiephie18
