❤️🐵 Last but not least, today’s orangutan of the day is Redd! At 2 years old, he is full of energy and mischief. His latest accomplishment has been bravely crossing the O-Line for short distances by himself. Mom Batang is always close by to lend a hand.

Why are orangutans important? They play an important role in seed dispersals and maintaining the health of the ecosystem. Hence it is very important to conserve their habitat because it not only benefits other species, but also local communities.

To "celebrate" Sibu the orangutan's 40th birthday, Dublin Zoo is offering 40-year-old human primates free admission to gawk at their captive cousin! And when they tire of gawking, they're free to leave. Unlike Sibu.
