Undervalued Nonprofit Worker Sep 20
Unpopular opinion: I dislike . I'm also a donor & it makes me uncomfortable when fundraisers go over the top to thank me-even if sincere. Nonprofits are doing hard, critical work. Donors happen to have disposable income. Power imbalance due to $ is icky imo.

Real talk: It's possible to have a "grown-up job" and still live paycheck to paycheck. This is the reality for me and countless other nerds like myself. I dunno about you, but I feel like we're all already working pretty damn hard and we could be doing better here?

I was recently asked if isn't just a marketing tool masked by fake sincerity. My take: true isn't a marketing ploy. It's a position of the heart that raises more money in the long term because it makes your donor a better person.

As journalism continues to evolve, so does its funding -- today, online nonprofit news organizations rely less on foundations and more on readers and major donors for financial support than they did 10 years ago:

I don’t know much but this I know: Average headline = nobody will read your copy. Good headline = people will read your copy if they have time. Great headline = people will make the time to read your copy.
