Met a museum worker this morning who had never been on a protest of any kind before. She's striking & protesting because the future for 's museums & libraries feels bleak. Gov cuts mean it's tough for councils but culture in communities matters.

Won’t close them = will give them to volunteers. The only axe will be to the paid staff - they are what cost the money.

Going to find out more today about libraries 'engagement' results and where they are going from here. It's pretty clear the public didn't want to volunteer at the detriment of library staff paid jobs.

Our libraries and museums are a vital public service. Years of Tory austerity have reduced the service to a bare minimum. I fully support members striking across Bradford to defend the service

Lots of support for library staff in Wibsey this morning defending our library services from cuts. Can you be a city of culture Bradford without properly funded libraries and museums?

So mainly positive but cautious about the way forward in libraries. Congratulations to everyone who supported the strike action the extra funding means no budget cuts. The consultation will be in the public domain tomorrow.
