there are no "Patriots" left in this crumbling & smouldering Trump Administration, all of these hangers-on hold onto a racist vision for this country, one I am excited to vote out from power.

another sign that the kids are alright, it's their "elders" who are the racists. (I hope are these young people are pre-registered to vote!)

A few years ago when I was doing more and protests, I usually carried Sharpies in two or three colors, so I could lend them to people whose skintones differed from my "practically a vampire" paleness.

If you have a minute RIGHT NOW, please comment! Only 3 hours left! Trump's DOJ wants to end asylum via a series of arbitrary rules, like requiring people to apply w/in 15 days of a court —usually without legal representation or adequate translation.

So please submit a public comment! Add some of this info and place your objection on the record. We can, at the very least, jam up the system to delay its implementation. And that could mean life or death for people who've fled violent persecution.

So few apply for AND obtain asylum, but the DOJ's doing everything it can to turn away ALL asylum seekers. They've passed multiple rules over the past several months—often under the maddeningly false pretext of protecting U.S. citizens from COVID-19 🤬

U.S. asylum officers often rely on outdated country reports and state sources to assess an asylum seeker's claim. The burden is on the person who is seeking asylum to prove that they have a "credible fear" of persecution.

Ultimately, over 90% of claims are denied. And thanks to a 1996 act of Congress (the IIRIRA), officers can place people into fast-track deportations before they can even apply.

The DOJ wants asylum seekers—who have often sacrificed everything they have to arrive at the border—to pay a $50 fee to apply. The alternative? Get deported. They refuse to offer waivers. It's unethical and it violates international norms.
