A heat advisory is in effect until 8 pm for the SE half of our forecast area, with heat indices expected to be as high as 105 to 109 degrees. If you have to be outside, make sure to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and wear light, loose-fitting clothing if possible.

Hot weather is expected this week across central NC with highs in the mid to upper 90s with heat indices as high as 105-109 degrees in eastern counties. Take proper precautions to mitigate the effects of the heat if spending time outside this week.

Wrightsville Beach lifeguards report a pair of waterspouts near the north end of Masonboro Island within the past 15 minutes, both headed offshore and out to sea. Mariners should be wary of strong winds and the potential for additional waterspouts with these storms.

1125pm Radar Update: Watching a fairly robust outflow boundary pushing south/west through central at this hour. Not much shower/storm formation activity with it, but a quick wind gust (up to 30mph) and a slight drop in temps expected as the front pushes through.

A Heat Advisory is in effect today from 11am - 8pm for those along and east of US-1 in . Hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create heat indices in the 105 to 109 degree range, which could turn harmful to those exposed. Take precautions

Another heat advisory is in effect for Wednesday from 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM this time for counties generally south and east of the Triangle. Heat index values are expected to reach 105-109 degrees within the advisory. If outside, remember to take proper precautions.
