Today I filed paperwork with the Board of Elections to run for NC State Senate. We need new and effective leadership in Western North Carolina. It’s not effective leadership when 22% of our kids don’t know whether there will be food on the dinner table.

🚨: A court in NC will not block the new congressional map drawn by Republicans in the state legislature. The new districts (top) were drawn after the old districts (bottom) were ruled as a partisan gerrymander. Here's how they voted in the 2016 presidential election.

The Surgeon General of solid-red Arkansas knows that has been good for his state & would be good for NC too. We should join the 37 states that have saved lives, boosted their economy & lowered premiums by closing the coverage gap.

Phil Berger and Chuck Edwards need to stop lying about “record raises” and provide pay increases of at least 5% for all school staff. A first year teacher in 2007 made $36,592 in today’s dollars. This year’s starting salary? $35K.

Today, I filed for re-election for Senate District 15. While my Senate district has changed (again), my values have not. During this long legislative session, as Senate Minority Whip, I’ve continued to fight for a better North Carolina. I’m honored to represent you.
