This case reflects an absolute coldness in ’s military *and* civilian authorities. The military routinely controls courts and Suu Kyi has the authority to release journalists Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, but isn’t. A total travesty.

"Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo should never have been arrested, much less prosecuted, for doing their jobs as investigative journalists. That they are still in prison shows just how wrong Myanmar’s democracy under Aung San Suu Kyi is going."

They should never have been arrested, much less prosecuted, for doing their jobs as investigative journalists. ’s military & civilian govt seem determined to extinguish any ability to question their misrule & rights abuses. Journalism is NOT a crime.

Hard to imagine the legal basis for the Supreme Court dismissal of this appeal. Journalists who expose human rights violations should be rewarded, not punished. Very disheartening for all working to support judicial independence & rule of law in
