Time flies when you’re having fun! Thanks to for the recognition. And thanks to middle schoolers who obviously keep me looking like there’s no way I’ve taught this long 😂

A1: Thought I was going to be a hs English teacher...until joining the public library children's dept for required service project in junior year of college. It opened up my eyes to other ways to connect kids & books. That's STILL my favorite part of being a librarian.

12 Days of , Day 2: My book nook! I am going to start reading "Becoming" today. At work, I'm reading "The Whydah" and "The Opposite of Hate." (Not pictured: the curtain rod my four-year-old twins pulled down or the pile of laundry next to me.)

A1: wanted to give Ss the community of readers I didn’t have outside of family growing up. I didn’t want to give up teaching to be a librarian; then I met Dr. Pasco & learned you can do all the fun book stuff PLUS all the teaching

Day 1 - Jessica, TL at Harding Middle School in Cedar Rapids, IA. It isn’t a classic, but my girls adore this Fisher-Price lift-the-flap Christmas book and look forward to it every year. 😍

A1 - I was lucky enough to have a boss who encouraged me to go for an MLIS. She’s a valuable mentor and friend. I love being a librarian because I get to connect with people every single day.

A2: In the past five years, I've seen so much more of "library" taking place outside the four walls of the actual media center. I welcome it in some ways as it lends itself to integration.
