This is amazing! Bastille sent this message of support to band leader Brian before his school’s Christmas concert they also sent one to the children – what a great surprise!

I think I finished my arrangement of Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved.” I’ll give it to my 8thf readers in a week. Here’s a snippet form it, a crappy MIDI version being played by my computer. There will be piano, just didn’t notate it, as I’ll be playing.

Transcribing a song that I will then arrange into a 3-part SAB choral piece for my 8th graders.

It was a busy Saturday region auditions listening to 125 middle school violin players play two scales. Can't wait to see how my two cello and one bass players do on their auditions.

This has been my new favorite thing this year. Rhythm of the Day! Such a quick and easy way to reinforce reading skills. We’ve used it for movement, to play pitched instruments, and in call & response form. AND the kids ❤️ it!

Time for the end-of-break tradition. First, get my work bag ready and realize there were about five things I brought from school that I never touched. Next, set the alarms. For the first day, much later than usual.

My heart nearly exploded with joy as I watched my Kindergarten students (kinder!!) composing rhythms today. They listened, they learned, and they encouraged each other. So proud of them!!

Until now I thought my music concert highlight of the 2019 was a bassoon ensemble playing ‘Eye of the Tiger’. But tomorrow I get to hear a steel pan band play Backstreet Boys. What a time to be alive

Yesterday one of my young students was breaking down in his (virtual) lesson, so I switched things up. We wrote a tune together. He did 98% of the writing. It's actually got a damn fine melody line. He's 5 yrs old, BTW.
