One mark of true discipleship is we greet our enemies warmly. We pray for them until we are transformed. It is our love for the hostile and the undeserving that makes us salty, useful and different.

I learned 3 new things at today. 1)My Rector wears socks with his sandals. 2) I need to find a new church. 3 )"Don't worry, I was just out looking for donkeys" is a great new excuse for the next time I nip off to Bargain Booze.

Lord, Give us the integrity & power to discern & reject what does not come from the heart, so that everything may be genuine among us. Guard our hearts & protect the good that is planted in them, that it may grow & thrive & bear fruit. 🙏

Christ, the sun of righteousness, rise in our hearts this day, enfold us in the brightness of your love and bear us at the last to heaven’s horizon; for your love’s sake.

The heavens are telling the glory of God and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. One day pours out its song to another and one night unfolds knowledge to another.

Lord, give us the strength and the depth of character that will keep us faithful to the people you call us to serve, and faithful above all to you. May the challenges we face never pull us away from our vocation, but rather strengthen our trust in you.

God of work and rest and pleasure, grant that what we do this week may be for us an offering rather than a burden; and for those we serve, may it be the help they need. Amen.

Lord, Grant me tenacious winsome courage as I go through this day. When I am tempted to give up, help me to keep going. Grant me a cheerful spirit when things don't go my way. And give me courage to do whatever needs to be done. 🙏

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11. Unless we treasure God more than anything else in this world, we will never know what true joy and satisfaction is.

Give us such a love for your ways, Lord, that we are ready to give ourselves in your service and in the service of others; keep us ever watchful for ways to live out your love, and ever prayerful to hear your call, that your kingdom may grow in us and through us.

Give us each a heart for the ways of your kingdom, Lord, that we may live out of your love, speak out of your love, and share your love with all. May your church be always revealing your love and helping everyone to know, experience, and receive your love.

When I was a kid we covered this in Sunday school and I was OUTRAGED that God let Moses die within sight of the Promised Land. It seemed cruel. But now I know that part of leadership is knowing when your piece of the journey ends. And it always ends.
