My first mince pie of the Yuletide season. There’s no going back now. Let the festive overindulgences commence. Once a hefty mutton-ground goodie, today’s dainty fruity, boozy tart has morphed considerably throughout its strange, twisted history.

Don't run out of this ! Whip up this organic (and suitably boozy) mincemeat, stock up on pastry and have deliciously home-made mince pies on tap after just two days…your family /friends/partner/ tummy will thank you for it. 😊

Wishing everyone a magical Sunday. Mine started with making another batch of home made mince pies. They seem to be disappearing faster this year

The most important transformation in the history of mince pies was the transition from meat to sweet, which appeared to be underway when Hannah Glasse wrote Art of Cookery in 1747. Glasse appears to suggest the option of just a sweet tar, no meat required.
