Dem Incumbents ran for Senate re-election in , , , , & . I compared the % of the vote they got in 2012 to their % this year. All states are touched by part of Appalachia. All but Manchin did better statewide than 2012, but all lost ground somewhere.

Senator Ben Cardin is being challenged by Chelsea Manning in the Dem primary for . That won't be a real threat. Cardin's only close race was the Dem primary in 06 where he narrowly beat former NAACP head Kweisi Mfume. Won his 12 primary with 75% against a state senator.

Michael Grimm wasn't the only ex-member of Congress to lose his comeback bid yesterday. Donna Edwards, last seen losing the Democratic primary in 2016, lost the Democratic primary for county executive of Prince George's County...in a landslide.
