The sad end of HMS Implacable as a barrack ship in the early 20th century. Built as the French 74 Duguay-Trouin she fought at Trafalgar, escaped capture but ran into Richard Strachan’s squadron 2 weeks later. Renamed Implacable she served in the Royal Navy.

Small oil on board c. 12x15cm). This came utterly blackened so I have spent some time restoring it..still much surface darkening but this is as good as it will get. Cracking quality little oil with a signature and date looks like 1907 or 1903. Unframed.
