Real Reform Louisiana 3h
WATCH: Rep. Garofalo lies on the House floor about conversations he's had with insurance companies. Not a single insurance company has said they'll lower rates if tort reform passes, and he knows it. When he got called out, he had to lie.

The Mansion is blue tonight in honor of Trooper George Baker who died from injuries sustained in the line of duty. I ask the people of Louisiana to continue to lift up Trooper Baker’s family, friends, & colleagues in prayer as we all mourn this great loss.

Rep. Garofalo admits SB418 was written by the insurance industry. "This isn't coming from me or Sen. Talbot, this is coming from the insurance industry."

The Louisiana house passed Senator Talbot's legal reform bill with 72 votes. Now is the time to reform Louisiana's broken legal system! We are happy to see vote in agreement!

Rep. Garofalo on the floor right now is saying "every insurance company" has told him they'll lower rates by at least 10% if SB418 passes. Three days ago, Talbot said none of the insurance companies would commit to a specific rate decrease. So who's lying?

Wearing a mask or face-covering in public is the neighborly thing to do. It's an easy way to protect one another and keeps Louisiana healthy and strong.

The Louisiana House, 61-33, passes resolution which urges the 7 parishes that have sued oil and gas companies to drop their lawsuits and says the parishes “have contracted with private legal counsel to improperly bring unprecedented enforcement actions.”

I want to urge the people of Louisiana to be mindful this Memorial Day weekend and continue to wear masks, social distance, practice good hygiene and stay home for the most vulnerable. We have made important gains, and we must continue to remain vigilant.

I have ordered flags to be flown at half-staff over all public buildings until sunset on Thursday, May 28, 2020, as an expression of respect for Trooper George Baker who died from injuries sustained in the line of duty. 📰:

An insurance lobbyist couldn't have written SB418 to have more loopholes for insurance companies. Not a single insurance company has committed to lowering rates if SB418 passes. It won't lower rates. This is everything people hate about politics.

Then Talbot admits insurance companies won't tell him how much they'll lower rates if tort reform passes: "I asked them many times, 'What do you think this is worth, what do you think you could drop them?' I couldn't get an actual number." It won't lower rates.
