The 1988 / 30 was launched in fantastic style at a dinner in Xiamen last week. 140 guests from all over China were treated to a Chinese drum performance, a Chinese (long-sleeved) ribbon dance & of course a tasting. 如意吉祥

I forgot how much I love this whisky. Not to mention how underrated tumblers are as proper dramming vessels.

Another old Islay classic it’s been a pleasure to get reacquainted with after quite some time. Beautiful concentration of peat, smoke, seashore and fruit.

A very exciting morning as Fraser, our distillery manager samples our heavily peated new make spirit. At 170ppm it is very smokey, with prominent floral and heather notes.

Budgie is on the stills and all is right with the world. We’ve just been having a trip down memory lane, thanks to daughter Dawn’s photo collection. Lovely celebration of his 30 years with the company with the whole crew yesterday afternoon.

Today Islay is known as 'whisky island', but the Ileachs' love for a dram was first recognised in the 1770s

Putting our money where our mouth is... We always have and always will mature all our whisky on Islay until the day it gets bottled full stop. Construction of the new warehouses above the distillery at Coultorsay progressing well.
