The first flown on this day 170 years ago by Thomas Francis Meagher. There are many memorials dedicated to him, including one in Montana, Las Vegas, Brooklyn and on the banks of the Missouri River where he disappeared under dubious circumstances.

The is 170 years old today! This one was found in the yard of Dublin Castle among a heap of captured weapons in the aftermath of the 1916 Rising.

Our Flag Day Committee were in Leinster House for the Flag Day Awards ceremony today. Nur Binti Abduzzaher (3rd year) was presented with an award for her poem for the Flag Day Competition with the Thomas Francis Meagher Foundation 🇮🇪 Well done Nur!👏
