Hey new - You don't have to brag about your accomplishments before to prove that you belong here. All that does is feed in yourself and others. Come to grad school for self-development, not to compete against others.

Whenever I get on lab and scan my JPL badge and the green light doesn’t appear right away, there’s often a little voice in my head that says “That’s it, they fired you and deactivated your badge”! 🥴😃

If I have to occasionally remind myself that I am where I am because of my merits and not my femaleness/asian-ness, is that or a side effect of the "we NEED more women in science or else we'll look bad" rhetoric?

I’m somewhat startled to officially hear that I’ve been promoted to Senior Lecturer. In April I laughed at the suggestion that I should apply. Now I’m like, “I fooled them too?” runs deep. Encourage your peers folks! The support can go a long way.

I'm looking to speak to women who have experienced 'imposter syndrome' - either at work or in their home lives - and how they've tried to conquer it. Give me a shout if you can help, or if you know someone who might be able to!

Yesterday was the first time that a reject email for a great job didn't throw me into a spiraling pit of self-doubt. I didn't get the job. But I'm a good scientist and, more importantly, a good person.

A senior and a mid-career academic meet for a beer and talk . If we’re both abled white English-speaking cis men (although both gay and from working class backgrounds), then I can only imagine what this must be like for people from less privileged backgrounds...

I was born with the chronic anxiety that I was doing everything wrong and failing constantly. I became a writer so I could make sure to always be right about that.

The best advice I can give you in your next job search is to get you a squad. Find people who will cheer you on &, more importantly, remind you that you're not crazy to get what you deserve. Hire them. Do whatever you have to do. Overcome w/ your crew.
